Imagine having your own farmer, who passionately grows the food you serve yourself and your family. Stoney Meadow Farm offers a 16-week CSA subscription for approximately 70 members from the beginning of July through October. Every week, the in season crops are picked hours before delivery and then delivered to a site near your home. Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) connects you to your food, the land your food is grown on and to those who grow your food. It also means keeping your money in the local economy, supporting sustainable agriculture, and enjoying organically grown foods. When you join a CSA you become a member, part of a community that supports a small, local farm. A CSA is a relationship of mutual support and commitment between a local farm and its members, who pay the farmer a annual membership fee to help cover the production costs of the farm. In return, members receive a weekly or every other week share, whichever the member chooses, of the harvest during the growing season--sharing in the inherent risks and bountiful benefits of farming.
Is a CSA right for me? The average meal in the US travels 1,500 miles before it reaches your table. By joining a CSA, you will have the opportunity to know where food is grown, know the farmers who grew it and be able to ask the questions about growing practices, recipes and storage tips. At a cost of roughly $20 per week, you can have the comfort of knowing you are putting foods that are grown locally, without any chemical pesticides or fertilizers, on your table.
